What This Filter Does
This 0.5 micron coconut carbon block filter is designed to reduce chlorine, chemical tastes, and odours after sediment filtration.
The dense carbon block structure increases contact time, improving adsorption efficiency and delivering cleaner, better-tasting water throughout the home.
This cartridge is typically used as the final carbon stage in a standard whole-house filtration setup.
What It Removes
This filter helps reduce:
Chlorine (taste & odour)
Chemical tastes and smells
Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs)
Fine particulate matter down to 0.5 micron
It is not designed for PFAS or chloramine removal — that function is handled by the premium catalytic carbon filter.
-
Yes. It is designed for whole-house systems using 20” x 4.5” housings.
-
This cartridge is designed primarily for chlorine taste/odour and general chemical reduction. Chloramine and PFAS require specialised media and performance depends on the specific filter design and contact time. For targeted chloramine + PFAS reduction, use our premium catalytic carbon PFAS filter.
-
This 0.5 micron coconut carbon block filter has a tighter pore structure than 1 micron carbon cartridges, allowing for greater contact time and improved reduction of chlorine, tastes, odours, and fine chemical particulates. The finer micron rating provides additional polishing of the water before it reaches fixtures and appliances.
-
Yes. Coconut shell activated carbon is highly effective at reducing free chlorine, which is responsible for unpleasant tastes and odours in mains water. This filter is designed specifically for whole-house chlorine reduction and taste improvement.
-
When installed after proper sediment filtration, pressure drop is minimal. The high-density carbon block is engineered to balance fine filtration with adequate flow. Any noticeable pressure reduction usually indicates the filter is approaching the end of its service life.
-
Most homes should replace this filter every 6–12 months, depending on:
Incoming chlorine levels
Household water usage
Water temperature and quality
If chlorine taste or odour begins to return, replacement is recommended regardless of time in service.
When to Replace
Replace this filter when:
Chlorine taste or odour begins to return
Water flow rate noticeably decreases
The filter reaches 6–12 months of use, depending on water quality and demand
Timely replacement maintains performance and protects downstream plumbing and appliances.
Compatibility Note
This cartridge suits all Pure₂O Whole-House Water Filtration Systsems, as well as all standard 20” x 4.5” (Big Blue) housings only.
❌ Not compatible with:
10” slimline housings
Undersink or benchtop systems
Always confirm housing size before ordering.
